Which report to download

  1. 1In the Amazon Ads console, open Reporting under Measurement & Reporting and start from the Campaign template in All templates.
  2. 2Set Time unit to Daily, and cover October 6 and 7 plus a few normal weeks before them. If your file comes back with one row per campaign, or by hour, the page will say so.
  3. 3Add your budgets. Amazon's new Reporting has no Budget report template, so they come from you. If the export has no budget column, read them from your bulk file (Bulk operations, then Download Campaigns), type them in, or paste them from a spreadsheet.
  4. 4A bulk file holds today's budgets, so fix any you changed since the deal days.

FAQ

How the check decides a campaign ran out

A day counts as capped when spend reached 95% of that day's budget, because spend rarely lands exactly on the budget. Change the number if your account behaves differently.

A campaign that hit its budget stopped serving for the rest of that day, so the sales on a capped day undercount what it could have sold.

Prime Big Deal Days against a normal day

With a daily file that covers the deal days and some normal ones, the check puts them side by side: spend, clicks, CPC, sales and ACoS per day, and how many campaigns hit their budget. When CPC goes up on the deal days, a campaign can run out on the same budget even if its clicks barely move.

Campaigns that stayed in budget show how much more the account wanted to spend during the event. The campaigns that ran out couldn't show you, because they stopped serving once the budget was gone.

Raising budgets for Black Friday

Only raise the campaigns that ran out and sold at or under your target ACoS. A campaign above target needs lower bids before it needs more budget, and one that ran out without a sale needs a closer look. Raise the winners by the evening of Thursday, November 26 and put them back on Tuesday, December 1, after Cyber Monday. The plan download lists each campaign with its current budget, the suggested budget and both dates.

If you use Merch Jar, the Adaptive Budget Management template runs the everyday version: it raises budgets on campaigns that keep hitting them while ACoS stays in range, and trims budgets that go unused. It's saved switched off, so you review what it would change and turn it on yourself.

Questions

Is my report uploaded? No. Your browser reads the report, and the bulk file if you add one, on your device, and nothing in either is sent anywhere. Close the tab and it's gone.

My columns weren't recognized. The check reads the old and new spellings of Campaign name, Date and Total cost (or Spend). If a column is missed, the message lists every column the check found, so you can see which name it didn't recognize.

Looking for other reports? The report converter maps old saved exports to the new column names, and the search term report analyzer finds searches that spent without an order.
